Daniel Escardo

1957, Uruguay

Daniel Escardó was born in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1957 and is one of the most unique artists of his generation in the Southern Cone's cultural environment. His work has roots in the traditions of the geometric artists of the 50's.
He Studied drawing with Guillermo Fernández, who was part of Joaquin Torres García's constructivist "School of the South".
Escardó comes from a family of physicians, with a great grandfather engineer of the generation of Eiffel, and a father dedicated to Paleontology .
His work, is deeply related to Biology, and in particular to the geometry that rules all living forms. At the beginning of the last decade, he produced installations that resemble laboratories, or futuristic museums of natural history. Currently he creates large-scale sculpture, and robotics projects.
