Cundo Bermudez was born in Havana, Cuba, on September 3, 1914
Bermudez studied Painting at the Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes "San Alejandro" from 1930 to 1932. He also studied law and social sciences at the University of Havana from 1934 to 1941.
The work of the international well-known Cuban painter Cundo Bermudez has been exhibited extensively at Gary Nader gallery including the exhibitions Cuban Masters at Gary Nader fine art, Coral Gables FL, Sept-Oct, 2015; Homage to Cundo Bermudez at Gary Nader Art Centre, Wynwood Arts District, Miami, Jan-Feb, 2009 and Wifredo Lam and the great Cubans, February-March 2014, among others.
Bermudez was the recipient of important prizes such as Honorable Mention, "Segunda Bienal de San Juan del Grabado Latinoamericano", Instituto de Cultura Puertorriqueña, San Juan, Puerto Rico (1972); Awarded “Homenaje a Picasso”, Organización de Estados Americanos (OEA), Washington, D.C. (1973); Cintas Foundation Fellowship, New York City (1973); Honorary Doctorate of the Arts, Florida International University (2008).
Bermudez’s work is held in several collections worldwide, including Lowe Art Museum, University of Miami, Coral Gables, Florida; Metropolitan Museum and Art Center, Miami, Florida; Miami-Dade County Art in Public Places, Miami, Florida; Museum of Modern Art, New York City; Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes de La Habana, Havana, Cuba.
Cundo Bermudez died October 30, 2008 in Westchester, NY
