The exhibition brings together selected works from across four decades in the artist’s career as the most important Latin American artist from all times, including early examples of his paintings, as well as some of his work as a sculptor.
The Matta exhibition features selected pieces from the gallery’s collection, showcasing works from the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s, the decades when the artist produced the signature pieces that shaped his recognizable aesthetic discourse.
The exhibition focuses on masterpieces from Botero’s prolific career including paintings, drawings, and sculptures influenced by the aesthetic of the historical masters and the typical personages and subject matter from his natal Colombia.
MASTERS IN SCULPTURE
Masters in Sculpture highlights the strength and creativity in the art of sculpture featuring abstract and figurative works by renowned artists such as Ahmed Al Bahrani, Pablo Atchugarry, Fernando Botero, Agustin Cardenas, Brian Donnelly (KAWS), Daniel Escardó, John Henry, Richard Hudson, Robert Indiana, Enio Iommi, Julio Larraz, Stephen de Staebler, Frank Stella, and Hans Van de Bovenkamp, Sophia Vari, and others.
SOTO to VIGAS
We are featuring for the first time the work of two of the 20th century’s most influential Venezuelan artist. From Soto to Vigas pay homage to the oeuvre of two artists whose aesthetic proposals contributed a new and distinctive identity of art in Latin American during the second half of the 20th century and beyond. The exhibition presents a historical survey of the artists' prolific careers exploring the significance of their work for Venezuela’s art history and their input in the development of Modern Art in Latin America.
