A conversation about seeing, being and transcending

On February 20, 2026, Gary Nader Art Centre hosted the first Miami edition of La Cena de los Sabios, created and produced by Lucy Doughty, with physician, speaker and author Dr. Mario Alonso Puig.

Under the theme “See, Be, and Transcend,” the gathering brought together leaders, collectors, entrepreneurs and cultural figures for a conversation about inner leadership, personal transformation and the power of perception. The format invited guests to pause, listen and exchange ideas before continuing the evening over dinner.

Art as a setting for reflection

The event took place amid Rachel Valdés’ exhibition at the Centre. Her exploration of light, space and perception offered a visual counterpart to the conversation: how we see, how we interpret what surrounds us, and how a change in perspective can open another way of thinking.

Gary Nader selected the gallery setting with that connection in mind. The artworks gave the gathering a context that guests could experience directly, moving between the discussion and their own encounters with the exhibition.

Puig’s reflections on inner leadership and personal transformation set the direction for the exchange. Doughty’s production brought the conversation into an intimate setting, giving guests time to engage with the ideas and with one another.

The photographs trace the evening from the seated conversation to book signings, encounters in the gallery and dinner among the artworks. Together, they document a gathering shaped by both its speakers and its setting.
