Gary Nader Art Centre celebrated a major cultural milestone with a private gala on December 2, honoring Gary Nader’s 40-year career as one of the pivotal leaders who helped establish Miami as a cultural destination. The evening brought together collectors, cultural leaders, artists, and international guests to celebrate a legacy that has reshaped the global visibility and appreciation of Latin American art for four decades.

This special gathering opened Art Week with the inauguration of Picasso to Botero, officially unveiled on December 3 and on view through March 28, 2026. Featuring rare works by Picasso and Botero never before exhibited, the show stands as one of the signature curatorial statements of Art Week Miami, presenting a powerful dialogue between the most emblematic figures of European modernism and the expressive force of contemporary Latin American art.

A Night of Celebration and Legacy

The gala began with an intimate private dinner, where distinguished guests honored Gary Nader’s trajectory and the evolution of a cultural project that has expanded steadily over four decades. The evening was marked by a warm atmosphere, the presence of international collectors and partners, and the unveiling of a curatorial vision that continues to position Miami as a cultural capital of the Americas.

The night concluded with a vibrant live performance by Cimafunk, produced by Emilio Estefan, delivering an unforgettable and energetic finale to the celebration.

A Milestone Exhibition: Picasso to Botero

The opening of Picasso to Botero amplified the anniversary’s significance, offering a sweeping journey through some of the most influential artistic dialogues of the 20th and 21st centuries. Among the highlights are two extraordinary works never before exhibited:

  • “Two Children” (1954) by Pablo Picasso, offers a unique window into Picasso’s personal life, his enduring fascination with childhood, and his evolving approach to portraiture and expression.
  • “Flowers” (2000) by Fernando Botero, an exceptional example of his mastery of sensual volume, proportion, and chromatic richness.

These works anchor the exhibition’s narrative, which underscores:

  • The intellectual and aesthetic bridge between European modernism and Latin American innovation.
  • The central role of Picasso and Botero in shaping contemporary visual culture.
  • A curated selection of masterpieces by renowned Latin American artists whose contributions have redefined both regional and global artistic discourse.

Presented during Art Week Miami, the exhibition reinforces the city’s position as an international focal point for art and reaffirms Gary Nader’s pivotal role in that cultural evolution.

40 Years of Impact

Since establishing Gary Nader Art Centre in Miami in 1985, Gary Nader has been instrumental in:

  • Expanding the global visibility and valuation of Latin American art.
  • Building one of the most important private collections of Fernando Botero’s work.
  • Creating a unique cultural ecosystem—Gary Nader Art Centre, Nader Museum, Botero Immersed, and Nader Sculpture Park—that continues to strengthen Miami’s artistic identity.

This anniversary not only celebrates an extraordinary legacy but also marks the beginning of a new chapter of growth, international collaborations, and expanded programming.
