A monumental debut in the Miami Design District

Nader Sculpture Park celebrated the unveiling of Chroma Emotiva, Soraya Abu Naba’a’s first monumental sculpture, on Thursday, October 30, 2025. The evening brought the artist and Gary Nader together at the park in the Miami Design District, marking a new stage in Abu Naba’a’s exploration of nature, emotion and reflection.

Created in polished stainless steel, the work translates the floral language of her Flora series into a sculptural encounter at an architectural scale. Flowers become a way to consider gratitude, hope and human connection, while mirrored surfaces bring the surrounding landscape and the viewer into the composition.

Chroma Emotiva: color, nature and reflection

The sculpture’s vivid floral forms invite an immediate visual response. Looking closer reveals another dimension: reflections shift with the viewer’s position, connecting the work to the people and space around it. The encounter changes as visitors move, making observation an active part of the experience.

Its arrival introduces Abu Naba’a’s distinctive visual language to the park’s open-air setting. Color draws attention to the forms, while the reflective steel extends the work beyond its physical contours.

Soraya Abu Naba’a: an expanding artistic practice

Born in Melbourne, Florida, Abu Naba’a works across painting, installation, sculpture and textile interventions. Her practice explores identity, collective memory and the relationship between humanity and nature.

Recognized at the 31st Visual Arts Biennial of Santo Domingo, she brings those concerns to Chroma Emotiva through a vocabulary that is both botanical and personal. The monumental work expands the scale of her practice while continuing her attention to emotion and the natural world.

“This piece is a mirror of who we are—fragility, strength, and memory. Seeing it installed at Nader Sculpture Park, surrounded by art and nature, is an honor that reaffirms my belief in art as a universal language.”

Nader Sculpture Park: art in the city

Founded by Gary Nader, Nader Sculpture Park extends the cultural program of Gary Nader Art Centre into the Miami Design District. Its open-air environment places monumental sculpture in dialogue with landscape, architecture and urban life.

The presentation of Chroma Emotiva reflects that approach: bringing contemporary artistic voices into a setting where visitors can engage with sculpture through movement, proximity and changing perspectives.
