Miami Art Week 2026: A Guide Beyond the Convention Center
Fairs, museum exhibitions and two stops in Wynwood and the Design District, from November 30 to December 6.
Miami Art Week 2026 runs from November 30 to December 6. Art Basel Miami Beach and more than a dozen fairs set the calendar, but the week extends well beyond them, through galleries, museums and public spaces from Miami Beach to Downtown, Wynwood and the Design District.
This year, one thread runs through those neighborhoods: the modern masters. In Wynwood, Gary Nader Art Centre opens LAM · BASQUIAT · SONGYE, an exhibition that places Wifredo Lam and Jean-Michel Basquiat in conversation with Songye sculpture from Central Africa. In the Design District, Nader Sculpture Park marks two years in the open air.
This guide follows that thread beyond the Convention Center. It brings together the dates, the addresses and a few suggestions for leaving time to look.

The fairs
Art Basel Miami Beach
The 2026 edition brings together 272 exhibitors from more than 40 countries and territories. The fair has also changed shape. It occupies about 12% less floor space, and its main sector, Galleries, has about 10% fewer exhibitors. Blue-chip galleries that were once grouped together are now distributed across the floor, beside programs of different sizes and regions.
The fair is organized in four sectors: Galleries, Nova, Positions and Survey. Survey is devoted to historically focused presentations, and Kabinett places smaller, focused presentations inside gallery booths.
The Americas carry particular weight this year. More than two-thirds of participating galleries operate spaces in the Americas, and Brazil is once again the third-largest national contingent. El Apartamento, the first gallery based in Cuba to take part, returns in the main sector. Zero 10, the fair’s platform for art of the digital era, presents its largest edition to date, titled Generation.
Public days run Friday to Sunday, December 4 to 6, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. (Art Basel)
The satellite fairs
- Art Miami (December 1–6, One Herald Plaza) presents 20th- and 21st-century work on Biscayne Bay. Its sister fair, CONTEXT Art Miami, focuses on emerging and mid-career artists, and a passageway connects the two.
- NADA Miami (December 1–5, Ice Palace Studios) gathers more than 130 galleries and art spaces from 63 cities.
- Design Miami (December 1–6, public days from December 2) is dedicated to collectible design, from furniture and lighting to objects.
- Untitled Art (December 2–6) is held beachside, at Ocean Drive and 12th Street in Miami Beach.
Museums across the city
Miami’s museums open their winter exhibitions around Art Week. Art Basel’s program lists, among others:
- Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami: exhibitions devoted to Carroll Dunham and Diego Singh, and a new stairwell commission by Naudline Pierre.
- Lowe Art Museum: Let the Picture Lead: Helen Frankenthaler and Her Circle and Dustin Yellin: Psychogeographies.
- Margulies Collection at the Warehouse: Realism: Paintings and Sculptures, light installations and kinetic sculpture by Yuko Mohri.
- Pérez Art Museum Miami: Picasso–Klee–Matisse: Masterpieces from the Museum Berggruen and Basquiat: Figures, Signs, Symbols.
- The Bass: Amalia Pica’s Lecturas Posibles and Yuko Mohri: Unviolated Imperfection.
Two free public projects complete the week: a new body of work by James Turrell, presented outdoors, and Public Art Fund’s Between Tides, a set of artist-designed ping-pong tables in Collins Park.
Wynwood: LAM · BASQUIAT · SONGYE at Gary Nader Art Centre
Gary Nader Art Centre opens LAM · BASQUIAT · SONGYE with a private opening on December 1. From December 2, the exhibition is open to the public with free admission. It brings together three bodies of work made decades and continents apart, and asks what they share.
Wifredo Lam met Picasso in Paris in 1938. On his return to Cuba, he built a painting in which human, animal and plant forms merge, drawing on Afro-Caribbean histories and his encounter with European modernism. Jean-Michel Basquiat, the son of a Haitian father and a Puerto Rican mother, filled his canvases with figures, words and signs drawn from art history, the street and his own heritage. The exhibition includes three of his works, among them Figure 3A (1984), acrylic and oilstick on canvas.
The third presence is Songye sculpture from what is today the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Songye power figures were made by sculptors and given their force by ritual specialists, who added substances and materials believed to hold protective power. Seen beside Lam and Basquiat, they raise questions about the figure as a vessel of meaning, and about how modern art has looked at African sculpture.
Gary Nader Art Centre has always presented its program on its own terms, outside the fair circuit. LAM · BASQUIAT · SONGYE continues that path: an exhibition built for time and close looking, in rooms of its own.
Upstairs, Nader Museum presents the collection through curated exhibitions, with works by Fernando Botero, Roberto Matta, Rufino Tamayo, Diego Rivera and others on rotation. During Miami Art Week, the gallery is open every day from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Admission and parking are free.
Design District: Nader Sculpture Park turns two
Nader Sculpture Park opened during Miami Art Week in December 2024. Two years later, it returns to the week with more than 50 monumental sculptures in the open air of the Miami Design District.
Fernando Botero’s bronzes and Robert Indiana’s LOVE and AMOR are among the park’s defining works. Richard Hudson’s curved, reflective forms and Rachel Valdés’s mirrored geometries bring the surrounding light and architecture into each piece. Carlos Cruz-Diez’s Cromovela No. 24 takes his research into color outdoors. Soraya Abu Naba’a’s Chroma Emotiva, her first monumental sculpture, translates the flowers of her Flora series into polished stainless steel.
During Miami Art Week, the park is open every day, until 9 p.m. from Tuesday to Friday. After a full day in the city, it offers a different pace: sculpture at dusk, with room to walk around each work. Admission is free.
Planning the week
Plan by neighborhood rather than by event. Traffic between Miami Beach and the mainland is heavy during Art Week, and one crossing a day is enough.
| Day | Suggested focus |
|---|---|
| Tuesday, Dec 1 | Downtown: Art Miami and CONTEXT Art Miami, or NADA Miami |
| Wednesday, Dec 2 | Wynwood: LAM · BASQUIAT · SONGYE opens to the public at Gary Nader Art Centre, with Nader Museum upstairs |
| Thursday, Dec 3 | Miami Beach: Design Miami and Untitled Art |
| Friday, Dec 4 | Design District: Nader Sculpture Park at dusk, open until 9 p.m. |
| Saturday–Sunday, Dec 5–6 | Art Basel Miami Beach public days, or a second, slower visit to Wynwood (the gallery is open until 7 p.m.) |
Fair tickets are sold in advance on each fair’s website; admission to Gary Nader Art Centre and Nader Sculpture Park is free. Bring comfortable shoes. Leave room in the schedule to return to a work that stayed with you. That second look is often the one that counts.
